The Illness Is Bad Enough. The Hospital May Be Even Worse

“Post-Hospital Syndrome” is something I have witnessed with my clients as well as with my own family.

Though necessary, hospital stays can be extremely stressful (physically, mentally, emotionally), for the patient.  Managing the care of a loved one in the hospital so it’s not detrimental to their overall health is crucial.  Making the stay as smooth and comfortable as possible is key.

Making things as “normal” as possible like bringing in items from home as well as favorite foods can make a big difference.  This can require the steady support of family or a patient advocate. And a strong voice with staff at times!
